Zero Textbook Cost Resources (ZTC/OER/LTC)

This guide provides information about ZTC and Open Educational Resources; including information on finding resources by discipline and creating OERs

Searching for Open Education Resources

Open Education Resources (OERs) are available in almost every topic area. OERs can be textbooks, lab manuals, question banks, course shells, videos, or many other types of resources. There can be an overwhelming number of places to find these materials, so please do not hesitate to contact the library and the Open Education Librarian (lyric.ripley@mvc.edu) for help locating resources.

When looking for open course content you should evaluate them the same as you would any course textbooks including reviewing the depth of coverage, engagement quality, and accessibility.

Open Source Images

Finding Open Images and Graphics

Open source images are images that are licensed under one of the open source licenses, such as Creative Commons and other licenses. Those images do allow you to use them in any commercial or non-commercial activities as long as you obey the license terms (E.g some of them will require you to attribute the image owner, while others won’t). In result, you’ll be able to use those images wherever you wish.
