AI, ChatGPT, and Beyond

This guide provides a starting place for MVC faculty, staff, and students to learn about ChatGPT and generative AI and how to use it responsibly.

What is a Image Generation Platform?

What are Image Generation Platforms?

Image generation platforms are software tools or online services that use algorithms, often powered by artificial intelligence, to create images based on user inputs. These platforms can generate artwork, illustrations, realistic photos, or abstract visuals by interpreting text descriptions, parameters, or data. They are used across various fields, from graphic design and marketing to education and entertainment, helping users bring creative concepts to life quickly and efficiently.

About Using These Platforms

  • As you play with these AI image generation platforms, be aware that content created by AI cannot be copyrighted, per a decision by the U.S. Copyright Office. This means that any images that you create with AI are automatically part of the public domain, and can be reused and edited by anyone in any way.
  • Some generative AI tools, such as Midjourney, will automatically add any images you create, and the prompt, into a publicly-accessible picture database. (We will cover this topic in greater detail in Module 4.)
  • While many AI tools are free or provide some free services, many come with an associated cost or provide only limited image generation in their free versions.

If you are well-acquainted with the tools on this page and the previous page, we recommend diving into the diverse array of tools available today that cater to various content requirements, including image, video, and audio production. For a bit more on each of the above, see:
