Dos mundos : comunicación y comunidad

Based on the Natural Approach, Dos mundos stresses the use of engaging activities and interesting readings in a natural and spontaneous classroom atmosphere. In this comprehension-based approach to learning language, the development of communicative language skills is the central goal, with formal grammar presentation and grammar practice at the service of communication. The text is designed so that class time can be devoted to exposing students to Spanish through creative activities and readings, allowing grammar explanations and exercises to be studied outside the classroom.

Nuestro idioma, nuestra herencia : espanol para hispanohablantes

Unique in its approach, each of the eight chapters highlights a Hispanic cultural genre and grounds it in relevant countries of focus, such as music of the Hispanic Caribbean, Mexican film, and literary traditions, myths, and legends in Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Through cultural readings and business-oriented readings related to the chapter theme, students will build upon their reading skills. In addition, students will sharpen their writing skills by practicing different writing techniques presented in each chapter. As students hone their Spanish language skills, they will also develop a deeper sense of pride in their linguistic and cultural heritage.

Spanish for health care professionals

Expanded in this edition with more words, phrases, and helpful exercises, this program also features two brand-new sections. One of them is directed at health care receptionists, and the other deals with health insurance forms. This book is designed to help doctors, nurses, and medical assistants communicate in Spanish with Latino patients and their families who have little or no command of English. Every Spanish word in the book is followed by its phonetic pronunciation. The book also provides easy-to-follow tips on understanding colloquial spoken Spanish.
