LibKey Nomad browser extension

Overview

LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that provides improved access to articles and ebooks on the open web (Google, Wikipedia, PubMed, etc). If an article is available through Moreno Valley College library or is available freely elsewhere (open access) then a link will automatically appear on the website.

To install LibKey Nomad on your browser:LibKey at MVC button

  • Click https://thirdiron.com/downloadnomad/
  • Click the “Get LibKey Nomad Now” button
  • Click the button for the browser you are using and want to install it with
  • Click the "Add to…[Browser Name]" button. You might need to confirm the pop-up once or twice.
  • When prompted select "Moreno Valley College" as your institution.

How it works:

Below is a pay-walled article on T&F that asks users to pay $58 to access. An MVC user can now instead click the Download PDF box/link that appears in the bottom left and it’ll take them to the article via MVC library.

It'll also provide links to articles through other sites, such as PubMed:

And even in Wikipedia:

Links will also appear for ebooks when the library owns or subscribes to a copy of it:
