Accessing Kanopy through a web browser

To access films on the Kanopy database via a computer

  1. Click https://mvc.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://mvc.kanopy.com
  2. If you are on-campus the database should load automatically in your browser.
    1. If you are off-campus you will be prompted to enter your student email address (@student.rccd.edu) and then will be redirected to the database
  3. Once in the Kanopy database, you can browse or search for a film. Choose a film that you’d like to watch.
  4. When viewing the page for the film click the Play button.
  5. The film should play within your browser.

To access films through the Kanopy app

To access films through the Kanopy app:

  • Download the Kanopy app from Google Play or the Apple App Store
  • Open App
  • Click Get Started, then Find University
  • Search for Moreno Valley College
  • Create an account with your student email address (@student.rccd.edu)
    • Verify your account by clicking the link sent to your email.
  • You can now browse and view films

Films with Public Performance Rights (PPR) on Kanopy

No Public Performance Rights licenses is necessary to play a film in a class or for personal use, but for extracurricular events (such as college-wide screenings or social events) you'll need to get ensure that you have public performance rights (PPR) to do so. This license allows for screenings for a non-paying audience within an institutional context.

To view which films have this Public Performance Rights (PPR) license in Kanopy:

1. Click the Search button on the top bar

2. Under the filter bar scroll bar, scroll to the bottom and toggle the Public Performance filter.

You will then see all of the films in the database with a Public Performance license.

You can also see if a film has Public Performance Rights from the PPR icon under the film title:

All of the films with this Public Performance Rights license can be played publicly as long as no admission is charged and it is an event associated with the college.
