The MVC Library will be closed until further notice due to COVID-19 safety concerns.

The library's online services will remain accessibly during this closure and can be accessed via the library's website.

What if my books are due when the campus is closed?

The due dates for all items checked out to currently enrolled students have been renewed through June 11, 2021, and no fines will accrue while we are closed. If you are no longer a current students and have library/college materials checked out then you must return these items or will be charged for their replacement. You can return them at one of the upcoming drop-off events or at the library's drop-box in front of the library.

All visitors to campus must wear a mask, to maintain 6-feet social distance, and should not enter campus if they are feeling unwell.

Please note: that you do not need return your items until we reopen – all due dates have been forwarded through August (and no fines are accruing during the closure), but if you would like to return your library items then you can do so at one of these above events.

Is there a place on campus for me to study or use a computer?

Starting April 19, MVC Academic Support has opened SAS 121 as an in person study space, with limited capacity and two hours maximum usage time. Laptop computers will be available, or students can bring their own.

The study space will be open from April 19 through June 11, 2021

  • Monday and Tuesday 10 am to 3 pm
  • Wednesday 12 – 5 pm*

How can I get help with my projects, papers and assignments?

The MVC Library's many online resources - including journals, ebooks, magazines, newspapers, streaming video and more - remain available. You can access these electronic resource from our A-Z database list.

Librarians can be contacted for assistance 24 hours a day through our library chat service, and via drop-in Zoom room, by appointment, or via email during our regular hours. For all the ways to contact a librarian, see our How to Contact a Librarian page.

Online tutorial assistance with fully trained experts is provided 24/7 through NetTutor.

Will I be able to checkout books or equipment when the campus is closed?

Students can place requests on available library materials through the library catalog, OneSearch, and pick them up at scheduled pick-up events.

Laptops are available for semester checkout and can be requested here by logging into your OneSearch account. Full instructions on how to place a request can be viewed here.

All checkouts are for the entire semester. Holds must be placed by noon on the day before the event is held to ensure they are ready in time.
