OneSearch will be used to search for all library resources including books, articles, videos, images, and more! This new catalog will include:
A New Search Interface
- Students, staff and faculty will be able to search across multiple collections for articles, books, and videos in both print and digital formats.
- The mobile friendly system supports any screen size and resolution.
Improved Library Account Management
- Library accounts will be simplified and accessed with a single, easy-to-use interface.
- Users will be able to view check-outs, submit hold requests, renew materials, and view fines/fees.
- Library accounts will be integrated with the college’s single sign on (SSO) system.
Improved access to resources
- The platform is the most advanced system on the market, improving delivery of library collections and services across the board.
- Simplifies the process of finding and filtering library resources.
- Much improved access to digital resources, such as ebooks and electronic articles, on or off-campus.
- Improved reliability, as the platform is a cloud based and hosted on multiple servers.
Alignment with other colleges
- The majority of the California Community Colleges (CCCs) are moving to the same interface, helping to smooth students’ transitions between colleges, and will lead to further resource sharing options in the future (including likely inter-library loaning among the CCCs – more info to come).
- The same system is used by all CSU libraries and most UCs (including UC Riverside).
What does this mean for Instructors?
- Any links, handouts or screenshots of library resources on your course materials or in your Canvas will have to be updated once our current system goes live in Spring 2020. This is a full platform change, so we are unable to retain the current links.
More information
- The library hopes to be holding a FLEX event during the Winter FLEX day to demonstrate the new system and answer any questions about it. More information to come!
