Oscar Gutierrez

My name is Oscar Samuel Gutierrez Martin and I have Mild MR, Mild Mental Retardation. My motto is “With a physical and mental disability, it will never be an issue to achieve your dream by going to college.” When I was around the age of 5, it was hard to talk and write for me because my brain didn’t develop the right way. It took me time to learn how to do things by someone explaining it 5 times so I could get the concept and complete my tasks at school & on the Special Olympics basketball team. Over the years it became tough and I felt like I wasn’t good enough to keep up with regular students. I worked on a day program called Ability Accounts and many others. During the time I was there, it was hard for me to be social with many clients and I developed anxiety because I wanted to have friends but I didn’t have any confidence in myself and I felt like everyone was going to judge me from my Mild MR. I graduated from Moreno Valley High School in 1997 and continued in the day program till 2020. Eventually, I started thinking of going to college and it was hard because my family was financially unstable so I decided to put myself through college on my own. A counselor in the college helped me discover my first major which was Film in Video Production but I fell in love with creating digital music and I just released my two singles “The Curse of Love” and “ Rice Of Darkness” in February 2024. I want to get

my Master’s Degree in Music Industry Studies at Berkley University School Of Music and open my own Record Label for local talent.
