Early Childhood Development

This guide is designed to help EAR students succeed in their early childhood development course and learn how to conduct research for their assignments.

USING THAT BOOLEAN SEARCH STATEMENT

Now that you've chosen a topic, developed a manageable research question, identified the relevant keywords, and created an effective Boolean search statement (whew...you've already learned so much!), let's put those skills to work!

OneSearch is the Library's search tool that allows you to find the resources available through the library. It's is essentially the Library's 'Google' search for cool, credible sources.

Let's put that Boolean search statement into OneSearch and see what happens!

SEARCH RESULTS

YIKES!, there are so many results! Once you put your search statement into OneSearch, and click on Search, the next page will show you a list of results. These results will include a wide variety of sources, such as print books, ebooks, journal articles, newspaper articles, videos, etc!

How do I find what I'm looking for?

TOO MANY RESULTS! It's time to FILTER!

OneSearch has several ways you can filter or limit your search results to exactly what you're looking for. You can limit to certain types of sources BEFORE you search, or AFTER you search.

The example below is how to filter AFTER you've done your search and you already have a list of results.

One the left side of the search results, choose what you would like to Filter to. Don't forget to click on 'Show More' to see more options! These 21 books on our topic will be both print and online books!
